Ted walked me through the whole Common App. We spent most of our time on the essays. I got in where I wanted to.

What really impressed me was the amount of time he was willing to spend with me working on each essay.  My friends who used coaches told me that they rarely saw their coaches—they just sent the essays and got the feedback emailed back to them.

I worked with Ted for several months on my college essays. I really felt like he worked hard to help me make my essays better. Of course, that is his job, but so many of the other people I worked with (my advisors, my parents, friends) kept on trying to put their own stamp on the essays. The only stamp on my papers after working with Ted was mine. Be prepared for a lot of Dad Jokes.

He was a lot of fun. I don’t really like writing, but I enjoyed it with him.

Iris – Boston College

Made me work hard, but he was a great help!

I always thought I was a good writer. My teachers said I was a good writer. I won awards at school for my writing. Mr. Eaton started out by saying that I was a good writer. Then he went over my essay (5th or 6th draft) with me. We looked at grammar, punctuation, syntax, logic, structure, style, and all sorts of other aspects. By the time I was done, I wondered how I ever got past first grade. My writing sucked! I was in tears. My parents wanted to fire him. “But,” I sobbed. “He’s right! Everything he said is absolutely right.” He’s a nice guy. Not mean at all. However, when it matters, he can get straight to the point.

I worked with Ted on the first draft on my Personal Essay and several of my Supplementals. Then my mother decided to hire someone else who had been a college administrator. When I gave my essay to my college advisor for final approval, he said, “What the Hell happened to your essay? Your first draft was almost perfect! This has nothing to do with you and reads like it!” So, we called Ted again. On Halloween! My mother was especially happy that he did not up his fee.

Terri – University of Michigan

I applied to 15 schools. That’s a lot of essays. At one point, he pointed out that it was the middle of December, and I’d already needed him for almost twenty hours of work. I prefer to work remotely rather than asynchronously. He said that he wanted my father to know, so he would not be shocked by the bill at the end of the month. That was really considerate.
